Maitripals Recruitment 2010!

Maitripals is current recruiting volunteers interested in working with HIV/AIDS patients.

All new volunteers are required to attend a compulsory 5 session training programme organised by health care professionals from CDC and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, this will take place in July.

Before this, however, applicants will be given the opportunity to learn more about Maitripals and our work through interaction with senior volunteers.

While nominally a Buddhist group, Maitripals welcomes volunteers of all beliefs and faiths.

Maitripals Roadshow!

Maitripals Roadshow!

Venue: Buddhist Fellowship, 9 Chwee Chian Road (off Pasir Panjang Road)

Date and Time: Sunday, 17 August, 11 a.m.

Maitripals’ first roadshow takes place this Sunday at the Buddhist Fellowship! The purpose is to raise awareness of Buddhist community towards care for HIV-affected persons, as well as share information about MaitriPals’ work and services towards helping patients and their families.

Guest speaker Dr Lee from Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Communicable Disease Centre will speakabout the various medical, psychological, and social aspects of HIV/AIDS, while Jit Sin and Huiping, both enthusiastic volunteers, will be sharing their personal experiences participating in Maitripals’ activities. There will also be a Q&A session for members of the public with any queries about issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS.

Do come down and lend us your support!

On 21 June, Bita organised Maitripals first excursion to the Science Centre and Snow City for both patients and volunteers. Our group consisted of 40 people, 20 volunteers and 20 patients and their family members.
