Introduction
Maitripals is a volunteer organisation providing palliative care to HIV+ patients at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s CDC ward. We receive support from Buddhist organisations (primarily Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple and Singapore Buddhist Fellowship); our membership, however, is open to volunteers of all beliefs and religions.
Our primary activity is bi-weekly ward visits (Wednesdays and Fridays) where we provide emotional support, snacks and titbits, as well as simple massage to the patients to ease their emotional and physical discomfort.
Currently, we are also developing our Aftercare Service, which provides support to the patients who have been discharged, their family members, or both.
